UPPER MOUNT HOUSE
The House was built in 1851 by our famous local architect Thomas Owen, known locally as "Thomas Owen Southsea". We are very proud to share this unique building with all our guests.
Proprietor Wayne served in the Royal Navy for twenty four years, nine of which he served on the Royal Yacht Britannia.
Under Wayne's guidance, the Upper Mount House is benifiting from Britannia's prestigious standards. Come and enjoy the quiet, relaxed and friendly atmosphere under our personal supervision where quality and service are "second to none".

About Upper Mount House. Wayne Mitchell welcomes you to the Upper Mount House Guest House. Britannia has been established for 17 year with the same ownership and has acquired a substantial reputation for its high standards of cleanliness and personal service. Upper Mount House obtained its name as Pauline's husband served nine of his twenty two years in the Royal Navy on board Her Majesty's Royal Yacht Britannia, now exhibited in Edinburgh, Scotland. The Victorian house is grand in style being built in 1885 and boasts some fantastic features, including high ceilings with deep ornate cornices and the original, traditionally tiled floors. We offer our guests large bright spacious rooms that are decorated and furnished to a high standard (See photographs). Breakfast is served from 7am to 9am in our traditionally styles dining room, furnished with some victorian antiques and interesting curios and artwork.French doors lead to the heart of the house, "The Kitchen" where your english breakfast is cooked to order by your resident proprietor, Pauline. Location. We have a great location on Granada Road, just one minute from South Parade Pier, the beach, canoe lake and the bus terminal, which can take you wherever you may wish to go. The Spinnaker Tower and Gunwarfe Quays are just under 2 miles away and offering spectacular views over the Solent and surrounding area, while Gunwarfe offers you outlet shopping on a large scale. Also, you will be spoilt for choice for restaurants, bars and clubs. The Naval Historic Dockyard is also within the two mile vicinity. Ideally located to our famous "Play Up Pompey" football team at Fratton Park. |
